Program Blog September 2026

September has been a busy month at Cloudbridge, in the midst of the rainy season.  In addition to celebrating Costa Rica´s Independendence day, Cloudbridge director Blanca Cejalvo also participated in a local tourism fair, as well as a workshop for the proposal of a Geopark designation in the Talamanca mountains.  The workshop allowed for the designation of the “Georoutes” which will allow visitors to visit sites of geological or archaelogical significance.  Cloudbridge´s Pacifica Waterfall was included as part of the Georoute #5, which also includes sites of interest in Alto Jaular and Pueblo Nuevo.

September 15th is Independence Day in Costa Rica, and Cloudbridge researchers and volunteers were able to participate in celebrations such as the parade in San Isidro, and preparing lanterns for the celebrations of the 14th.  Many thanks to our Costa Rican intern Marcela, who shared her knowledge and pride in her country with her fellow program participants.  Marcela prepared a presentation about the history of our country for Cloudbridge interns and guided the lantern-making activity.

In addition to Independence day celebrations, our researchers and volunteers are keeping busy both out in the field and in the kitchen, and as per usual potluck nights are always delicious and great fun!
