June marks the anniversary month of Cloudbridge Nature Reserve, which has now been in existence for 24 years! During that time, the reserve has always maintained the same focus, of not only conserving the Cloud Forest, but also providing a space for visitors to spend time in nature and learn about this diverse ecosystem. For many years now, Cloudbridge has hosted researchers from Costa Rica and around the world, in addition to providing environmental education services in local schools and participating with our local communities. This month, Cloudbridge staff and program participants were able to take part in the National Amphibian and Reptile Survey, with excellent results.
As is usual, this month we have had a great group of researchers and volunteers, and we are always thankful for the contributions that they make to the reserve. If you would like to see some of the reports written by previous interns, they are available on our website. We have been occasionally featuring some of our program participants on our social media channels, so please check that out if you haven´t already done so.
Many readers of our blog may be familiar with the environmental education program that we share in local schools. CONUBI – (COnociendo NUestra BIodiversidad) or “Knowing our Biodiversity”, is a program that allows elementary school children to learn about biodiversity, habitat connectivity, and other key concepts of environmental education. In this image, students are wearing Tapir masks that they made as part of the program.
