Program Blog April 2026

April has been a great month for us on the reserve.  The month started off with the observation of Holy Week, and finished with the celebration of the second edition of Valle del Chirripo´s Ultramarathon, a race organized by the local chamber of tourism with various distances.  Runners of the 50 km distance came through Cloudbridge in the pre-dawn hours, on their way to a full day out on the trails.

Some of the members of our staff were able to participate in the Chirripó National Parks 12th annual bird count.  It was a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the efforts made by our local park rangers to record the wonderful biodiversity of the park and bordering areas (such as Cloudbridge).  The opportunity to observe a majestic male quetzal was a highlight of the activity.

At Cloudbridge we are very appreciative of the excellent quality of people who choose to participate in our research and volunteer program.  As per usual, we currently have a great group at Cloudbridge, and recently one of our volunteers chose to highlight the “Humans of Cloudbridge” in this lovely video.  If you think that this is something you might be interested in, please reach out!

We would like to let our visitors know, that the first week of June the reserve will be closed, to allow us to perform some much needed maintenance near the entrance.  Please take this into account if you are planning on visiting around this time!

And last but not least, we would like to highlight that once again this year, we are implementing the CONUBI environmental education program in two local schools.  This is always a wonderful opportunity, and we are very grateful to all involved in this excellent initiative.
