Program Blog Feb 25

February is always a busy month at Cloudbridge, with the whole town of San Gerardo preparing for the annual Chirripó race.  As always, participants in our research and volunteer program contributed in the days leading up to the race, helping the community to prepare tamales and other foods that will be sold on race day.

Cloudbridge participants and staff also supported the Chirripó park officials, with some school visits during the days leading up to the race, as well as environmental education and forest fire prevention activities at the race itself.  As always, the SINAC´s mascot Toño the Coati, was present, as well as members of the Bosque Verde Fire Fighting Brigade, who taught the children about fire prevention, and showed them the different tools that they use to combat forest fires.

Cloudbridge researcher James Horton got to dress up as a firefighter during a visit to the local schools.
