Chirripo National Park is celebrating it´s 50th anniversary, and this month has been full of engaging activities, culminating in the revival of the “Reto de las Aguas Eternas” (Eternal waters challenge), a 12 km trail run which goes through Cloudbridge Nature Reserve. As per usual, our program participants were able to contribute to the fun activities taking place with children as the race occurred. In the main image, we can see our science coordinator Greilin Fallas posing with two of our program participants in disguise : )
San Gerardo local and Cloudbridge sponsored athlete José Rojas won second place in the 10th edition of this prestigious race, which had not been held since 2020, until this year. Community activities such as these also provide a space for our program participants to help prepare food and work in the local kitchens.
Included in the events surrounding the 50th anniversary, the neighboring community of Herradura de Rivas held a lovely environmental fair in which Cloudbridge staff members Blanca and Greilin led children on an exciting treasure hunt and encouraged them to create a beautiful collage with some of the interesting things found in nature.
July was also a busy month for us, as we supported a great festival organized by the women´s association of Canaan and other community initiatives, in addition to receiving some excellent student groups, including a group from TAMU that was here studying the insects of the cloud forest, and a youth group from Seattle, through the program Shoulder to Shoulder.
