Once, in another time,
I believed that souls resided in trees.
I worked a lifetime tracing branches
Seeking out the one tree that would hold my spirit.
“The Last Arborist” by Paul Wilson
Sadly Linda Moskalyk passed away surrounded by her family in Saskatoon on August 4th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was dedicated to her career in horticulture with the City of Saskatoon, being especially passionate about preserving the city’s urban forest. Linda was a talented artist and her passion for trees and nature was uniquely expressed in her paintings, which were well known and widely admired. She had two art exhibitions at Costa Rica National Gallery and multiple shows in Canada, Linda’s unique style of collage always caught your attention.
Since 2010 Linda has been a strong presence at Cloudbridge as our Resident Artist and a member of the Cloud Forest Conservation Alliance Board of Directors. She was inspired by the old growth cloud forest and environmental preservation. Linda’s art studio was always a buzz with environmental activism discussions with tourists, researchers and locals alike. She was a mentor to many and a friend to all.
When Linda became a grandmother she spent more time in Saskatoon enjoying her two little ones. But whether at Cloudbridge or in Saskatoon or on one of her fabulous trips trees and the environment were always part of the conversation.
We will miss her passion and friendly smile. I think it will take more than one tree to hold her spirit.
If you wish to honor Linda, donations can be made to Cloudbridge through the Cloud Conservation Alliance and/or follow her passion and plant a tree in your community.
Her artwork looks amazing. Thank you for a lovely tribute to this talented lady. Cancer is an ugly beast and it took her way too soon.
Linda was a wonderful lady. I volunteered at Cloudbridge long ago and she was a real pool of calm in an otherwise hectic year. I had the privilege of seeing some of her art in progress, just gorgeous. I’m sorry to Tom and all others.
Thank you for your beautifull words, she will be missed.
I met Linda while visiting Cloudbridge with my sister in law, Jenny Giddy. What a fun lady with such a zest for life and so much to give to conservation and to people. As a fellow artist, I was blown away by her work and her representation of trees. I was so desperately sorry to hear about her cancer and her subsequent death. Rest in peace Linda.
